LS/FF x Finisterre Exclusive Screening
Friday 23rd November, 8pm, London Surf / Film Festival is thrilled to be hosting a special screening of the multi-award winning ‘North of the Sun‘ at the Finisterre pop up store, 21 Glasshouse St, W1.
In celebration of their 10th Anniversary year, and the launch of their very first concept store, cold water surf company Finisterre asked us to curate a special evening of surf cinema in the city. Having scooped Best Documentary, Viewers Choice and a standing ovation for Director Inge Wegge at London Surf / Film Festival last month, it’s fair to say that ‘North of the Sun’ – a staycation epic on zero bucks at zero degrees – was the run away hit of this year’s festival, and our natural choice. Tickets to this exclusive evening, introduced by Chris Nelson author of critically acclaimed Cold Water Souls, are free but extremely limited. Inge Wegge and Jørn Ranum spent nine cold, dark, winter months living a back to basics life on a remote, arctic bay off the coast of Norway. They built a cabin from driftwood and other rubbish that washed ashore, foraging for free, out of date food in the local store, surfing frigid waves. This is a ‘Stoked and Broke’ for the cold water tribe, it’s a story to stoke the wanderlust and stir the soul. Just check out the trailer below.
Finisterre’s Glasshouse St store, open 21 November – 2nd December, is the British brand’s first concept store; it is the result of a lifetime chasing frigid waves and a decade of award winning product innovation. It brings together the best of their Autumn /Winter collection with a carefully curated showcase of UK surfing’s most exciting creatives; tailored insulation jackets, merino base layers, knitwear and fjord tested waterproofs will sit alongside a gallery of work from award winning lensemen Al Mackinnon, Mickey Smith, Mark Leary and Tim Nunn. “In everything we do, we believe in looking at things differently, in challenging convention, supporting the rogues and designing beautiful, functional products – the kind that last.”
