“The London Surf / Film Festival is an international celebration of the cream of contemporary surf culture,” says Festival Director Chris Nelson. “The art of story telling and filmmaking is deeply embedded within our surfing heritage and we’re stoked to invite filmmakers from across the globe and across surfing genres to submit their films for consideration for this year’s festival programme. Surf culture is wide open to creative interpretation and we welcome films that explore all aspects and angles of surfing from action and documentary to stop-frame animation and anything in between.”

Selected features will be screened in the capital across four nights from the 9th October to the 12th October 2014 in a showcase of international surfing’s hottest releases. As always, the programme will consist of the very best in independent films by both leading lights and emerging surf filmmakers, features by internationally acclaimed directors, underground hits and UK premiers.

Features will be considered by the Screening Panel – comprised of experts from within the worlds of surfing, filmmaking and media – for prestigious awards including London Surf / Film Festival Best Film, Best Documentary and Best Cinematography, and will be eligible for the London Surf / Film Festival Viewer’s Choice, as voted for by the knowledgeable British audience.

In 2013 the sold out festival hosted 13 packed sessions including 1 World Premiere, 3 European Premieres and 12 UK Premieres, and we were stoked to host Q&A’s with celebrated filmmakers including Mark Waters, Kepa Acero, Chris McClean, Matt Westcott and Tim Davies. Our 2013 award winners included The Salt Trail, This Time Tomorrow, Learning to Breathe, Bella Vita, The Fortune Wildand Shortie of the Year Sea Fever.

Alongside a curated programme of screenings, for 2014 we are once again hosting Q+A sessions, conversations and workshops with directors, producers and waveriders of note allowing the audience to get closer to the action and meet the heroes and legends of screen and surf. We will also have a packed programme of happenings around the festival in association with our friends at REEF and Approaching Lines.

Deadline for submissions is 31st August.
