LS/FF 2024 THE LINE UP
We’ve just dropped the line up for the 13th Annual LS/FF x Finisterre hosted 7th-9th November 2024 at Riverside Studios. And it’s going to be pretty special if we do say so ourselves!
We’ve assembled a handpicked programme of the very best films from across the globe – hotly anticipated premieres, award winning features and independent films – that represent the pinnacle of contemporary surfing in the here and now.
From seeking out new waves and new adventures on the outer-most frigid fringes of the surfing world, to challenging expectations, overcoming the odds, exploring the notion of self and identity and challenging an industry to change, it’s about serving up fresh perspectives and new line-ups.
There are documentaries to inspire, travelogues to stir the wanderlust as well as cinematography and surfing that redefine the bounds of possibility. Accompanied by Q+A’s and ‘Audiences with…’ some of the world’s most relevant exciting directors, surf creatives, surfers and explorers plus a special session hosted by cultural commentator Looking Sideways’ Matt Barr, this is a true celebration of the cream of surf culture.
We’re bringing to the UK a whole host of premieres, but it’s always about more than that. It’s about the people, the places, the gathering together and the sharing of stories, ideas and stoke. For many of the movies we screen, the festival will be the only chance to watch them as they were intended to be enjoyed – on the big screen, accompanied by a packed crowd of likeminded folk – the original “social media” experience… you’re not going to want to miss this.
Tickets are on sale now priced from £12.50. Evening passes: £20 include entry to a whole night of films plus a free beer from our friends at Sharp’s… and a few exclusive goodies! Evening passes are limited, always sell out and when they’re gone, they’re gone.
You can either buy an evening pass for a whole night of films or a ticket to a single screening.

THURSDAY 7th NOV, Riverside Studios // SESSION 1 // 6.45pm >> TICKETS
EUROPEAN PREMIERE The Life and Death of Westerly Windina Dir. Alan White and Jamie Brisick plus filmmaker intro
This gripping documentary is the untold tale of one surfing’s most enigmatic figures. Peter Drouyn was a Rockstar character, driven competition surfer and innovative thinker. Combining intimate interviews and rare archival footage, the film highlights Drouyn’s seminal contributions while exploring the isolation and struggles he faced behind that swaggering public persona—and his eventual transition into Westerly Windina. Twelve years in the making this is an essential exploration of identity and unflinching query into selfhood.
Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Alan White and renowned author and journalist Jamie Brisick, produced by House of Cards and Severence producers Beau Willimon and Jordan Tappis, The Life and Death of Westerly Windina is, “above all else about identity,” explains Brisick. “And one person’s deep search for and investigating of their truest self.”
“Astonishing…groundbreaking and important… much more than just another sporting hero biopic…” Tracks Magazine
Plus The Shorties shortlist film – the very best short films from homegrown filmmakers.

Multi award-winning documentary filmmaker and explorer Ben Weiland ventures out into unchartered reaches of the Bering Strait in search of unridden realms and frigid adventures. Accompanied by Pete Devries, Josh Mulcoy, Mark McInnis and Noah Wegrich, he boards a tiny plane and heads to this inhospitable region off the far fringes of Alaska, braving recalcitrant weather, unreliable transport links and sometimes formidable wildlife. They discover a rich culture and ancient landscape, but will they also be rewarded with world class waves?
What does pushing the boundaries in the craziest slabs and most terrifying waves look like in an era when accepted norms are constantly being broken? Meet Shane Ackerman, hard charging star of Astronaut in the Ocean, directed by one of our favourites, Keith Malloy. With insights from Mick Fanning, Tom Carroll and Russell Bierke, his mind blowing, funny and intimate portrait will have you gasping, laughing and questioning life choices… in equal measure.
How do you live a life less ordinary? How do you build a life of purpose? Being Weird from visual artist Andy Hughes and M.A.D., an intimate portrait of Chris Hines MBE, groundbreaking environmentalist, activist and co-founder of SAS, provide just the inspiration to those questions.
We’re honoured to have Chris Hines join us for a very special Q+A
