We’re thrilled to host the exclusive preview screening of environmental surf documentary The Big Sea. From award winning filmmaker Lewis Arnold and critically acclaimed writer Chris Nelson comes this groundbreaking and compelling environmental surf documentary, set to shake up and wake up the surfing world. The price of the perfect wave is greater than you think. Accompanied by a very special Q+A.
After the interval we present the UK Premiere of the hugely anticipated Facing Monsters Dir. Bentley Dean, a film Surfline celebrated as, “The best movie about a surfer ever made”. Following Kerby Brown in pursuit of mutant waves in the unridden realms of the ferocious Southern Ocean, this his multi-award winning documentary explores just how far we’re willing to go and what we’re willing to put on the line while chasing dreams and attempting to out-run demons.
It’s an oft-used phrase but it is an absolute must-see, and when Taylor Steele picks it as his film of the year, you know you don’t want to miss this.
As part of our Saturday night programme, we’re delighted to be bringing to the big screen a hand picked selection of incredible short films, The Physics of Noseriding Dir. Lauren Hill explores what makes this suspension between sea and sky even possible. Raw Dir. Aljaz Babnik follows Ambre-Victoire as she questions how we de-construct the way we have been conditioned, and build a new perception through the art of longboarding. The evening is accompanied by The Shorties shortlist film – the very best short films from homegrown filmmakers.
