Tom Tagholm

Tom began his career as an advertising writer. The move towards directing began in 2001 he was asked to join Channel 4 to help set up their fledgling creative department, 4Creative. Since then he has written and directed numerous award-winning spots for Channel4, heading up the department, managing a team of talented writers, directors and producers. AS Creative Director of 4, Tom has won Creative Circle, Campaign, Promax and Cannes Lions awards, as well as D&AD. In 2005 Tom directed his first short, Tarzan of Bounds Green. The film tells the story of Hollywood legend Johnny Weissmuller and a unique diving performance he gave in a lido in North London. Tarzan played in various festivals worldwide and was picked up by the British Council for representation. In 2007 Tom went on to write and direct A Bout de Truffe – The Truffle Hunter. This 35mm film again played in festivals worldwide and picked up a host of award awards including Best Film at the prestigious TCM Classic Shorts, Best Short and Film of the Festival at Raindance, Best Short at Dances With Films LA, plus many other nominations throughout Europe, America and Asia.

In 2008 Tom wrote and directed the 35mm short So I Fell In Love With a Zombie to promote the Raindance Film Festival of that year. Zombie played in Cinemas throughout the UK. Tom is represented by Independent Talent for feature films and recently signed with Blink for commercial work. He is currently in post on his third short, The Parachutist, with Film4 and the BFI. And as of August 2012 moves exclusively to develop feature and commercial work. Favourite wave? “Early morning at Maroubra or any time of the day at Boomerang beach,” explains Tom. “Plus anywhere in North Cornwall with my brother Hugo. When I was younger, Log Cabins at low tide. Favourite board? Single fin Hobie egg. 6’8. I got back on it recently and it is just about as forgiving as is possible to get. For me this is number one feature in board!”
