In the news: The Shorties on Korduroy, Carve, Huck, Outside Magazine

The LS/FF Shorties short film competition presented by National Trust is about celebrating and promoting the cream of home grown filmmaking talents on a global stage. And as with last year, the entries have been picked up and the filmmakers showcased across the world. They’ve been featured everywhere from near shore waters like Huck, Carve, Cooler, Surf Europe, Magic Seaweed, Surf Girl, The Surfers Path, MPora and Desillusion Magazine as well as Internationally from Outside Magazine, Korduroy, Indoek and The Inertia in the States to titles like Waves Magazine in Australia and ZigZag in South Africa and we’re stoked. We’ve been blown away by the entries to this year’s Shorties and to see the level of support they’ve received from the wider surfing community is a real testament to the wealth of creativity on our shores! Festival Director Chris Nelson caught up with The Inertia to talk all things ‘Shorties’

“When we founded the London Surf/Film Festival in 2011 we were determined to bring the best contemporary surf movies from across the globe to the UK audience. But we were also adamant in our desire to create a platform for UK and Irish talent to reach out, so we established The Shorties – a short surf film competition where emerging and established homegrown talents could shine.  The quality and diversity of entries we received were a real testament to the wealth of creativity on these shores while last year’s winning Shortie, ‘Uncommon Ideals’ from Chris McClean and Mark Waters went viral, before going on to be shortlisted in The Surfer Poll, the Vimeo Awards as well as scoring big at many of the world’s top film festivals…Cont. to continue reading on line at The Inertia, hit the link
