Women of the Sea Film Fund T’s & C’s

The Women of the Sea Film fund is open to entries from  until 8 April 2024. It is open to any filmmakers who identify as a woman and are a resident of the UK, Republic of Ireland, USA or Canada. All levels of experience are welcome to enter, whether an absolute beginner or seasoned professional.

The competition is not constricted by genre; surfing and surf culture are wide open to creative interpretation and we welcome pitches that explore all aspects and angles of surfing though documentary to stop-frame to animation and anything in between.

By entering into this competition you agree to the following Terms and Conditions:

  1. Entrants must be able to certify that the work submitted is their original work and does not infringe on any copyrights or any other rights of any third parties. You should have the right or authorisation to submit your pitch and the final film to LS/FF. The production must have no litigation or disputes regarding any part of the production, distribution or originality.
  2. Entries will be shortlisted and judged by an expert panel selected by Finisterre and the LS/FF. The winner will be notified by 30 April 2024.
  3. The winner will receive a £5,000 (or the equivalent rate in €, $, or CA$, rate to be determined by Finisterre) contribution towards the production of the film that upon satisfactory completion by the deadline (as determined by LS/FF) will be guaranteed a place in LS/FF 2024.
  4. We welcome pitches for films of up to 10 minutes duration. Any non-English language films must be either sub-titled or dubbed.
  5. The film should be ready to be submitted to LS/FF by 30 August 2024.
  6. Entrants may only submit one idea and agree to be bound by all terms and conditions of the London Surf / Film Festival. If an entrant is under 18 years old, the signature of a parent or guardian is required.
  7. Entries are open exclusively to filmmakers resident in UK, ROI, Canada or USA. Be aware that proof of eligibility may be required at any time. The festival organisers shall have the final say on eligibility.
  8. The winning film shall feature the Finisterre & LS/FF logos for 3 seconds in the end credits.
