Surfing is a community: a family. At times of social divisions and fracturing borders, it’s important to come together and celebrate the things we have in common, to stop and look around and see what an awesome culture we’re privileged to be part of – both here in the UK and also the wider global network of diverse salty souls. And so it was with this spirit that we approached this, the 9th annual London Surf / Film Festival x VANS.

We wanted to curate a line-up of films that reflect the broad spectrum of waveriding and represent the pinnacle of surfing here and now – from the biggest days ever ridden in WHITE RHINO, to the small community of chargers based around South Africa’s most challenging waves in SATORI, from the most stylish and cutting edge waveriding in ZONE FREQUENCY, to films that remind us of just why we surf like A CORNER OF THE EARTH,  to the immersive, live audio visual experiment TRANSLATE and of course The Shorties – the competition we established to celebrate and elevate the very best homegrown filmmaking talents.

After sold out World, European and UK Premieres, special audiences with stars of the surf and screen including the likes of Alex Knost and Lee Ann Curren, live music from CJ Mirra and his band and live quick draws from our resident artist Chris Dorning AKA The Cunning Craftsman, plus good times and more London Surf / Film Festival would like to say a huge thanks to everyone who came, made films, watched movies, supported, shared Sharp’s beer and Aluna Coconut Rum cocktails, talked story with friends old and new, hooted, voted and brought the stoke including our partners Nixon, Surf Ears, Venn Creative, Surf Sistas, Cord Surfboards, Carve, MagicSeaweed, Surf Girl and Huck. The results of the screening panel are in and here are the London Surf / Film Festival 2019 x VANS winners:
